Reiki is a non-evasive form of energy healing that balances a person emotionally, physically and spiritually, enabling the body to do what it does best - heal itself. The Japanese word Reiki (pronounced ray-key) means “Universal Life Energy”, and it is a pure, positive, creative energy that is around and within all living things. Reiki assists in accelerating healing from injury and illness, promotes relaxation and stress reduction, and reduces or eliminates pain. Reiki enhances rather than interferes with medical procedures such as surgery, psychotherapy or medication and is widely recommended for stress, allergies, asthma, back pain, migraine headaches, diseases, injury, phobias, fears and recovery from all types of physical and emotional trauma.
During a session, the client is placed in a comfortable position, usually lying on a treatment table. The client is fully clothed. Although a person does not have to believe in Reiki for it to work, there is a need to be open and willing to allow the energy exchange to take place, that is, to release the trapped energy and to bring in the positive energy - therefore creating balance. When the session begins, the client will experience a sense of relaxation. Stephanie gently places her hands on the client in various positions to free the “Ki” energy, allowing it to begin the healing process.
Reiki compliments all types of “conventional” treatments the client may be receiving. Treatments do not involve manipulation or massage. It does not even require a hands-on application. As mentioned, Reiki is a universally guided energy, and as such, it can do no harm. It always knows what the client needs and will adjust accordingly to create the effect that is appropriate to assist the body in regulating its own energy.
